The first Autumn/Winter monthly Duathlon
Sunday 18th October at Caythorpe Playing Field.
A reminder that the first Autumn/Winter monthly Duathlons is on Sunday at Caythorpe Playing Field. It is a handicapped event. If you usually have a good start ( or would like one) on the speedy people be ready to go off at 9.30 a.m.

If you are entered for the Caythorpe Chase the following Sunday you can check out the mud just over the Brandon Road hedges.

If you cannot make it this Sunday please reply soonest to the invitation to Leadenham on Sunday Nov 16 for the open training team challenge. To allow me to put in good numbers and a strong Grantham team in this Charity event before it is full with 35 places.

Hope to see you Sunday,
Chocky Fridge cake has been made!

Short Duathlon for this Wednesday 24th September Postponed.
The Short Duathlon for this Wednesday 24th September has had to be postponed to Sunday 12th of October starting at 9.30 a.m. It will be a handicap race.

When arranging the original date I made an error in calculating the arrival of darkness and it is not possible to start earlier. So I will admit we are into Autumn series now.

Below is the challenge by Newark and Lincoln Tri Clubs at a training duathlon, can we get some competitors out for  this, nothing serious and I think our first 3 home have their times added for the challenge result.

Also attached is the Caythorpe Chase entry Form, for a 90% off road ride.

I have not yet obtained the delayed Derby Triathlon results but Steve Hesketh seems to be our first Club Sprint Champion followed by Simon Tidman and Dave Philpotts. More to follow on this.

The Waddington Monday night swim coaching sessions have now just about filled the quota of 30 swimmers . If you wish to attend there is a few days to register as many cannot turn up every week and there are a few spaces. Unregistered people cannot just turn up as the RAF require pre information at the gate when group admission takes place. Please come back to me quickly if you wish to register.
Possibly time to try to get some Grantham Pool time with a coach for this winter......who is interested and at what times?

Bob

Invite to Leadenham from Lincoln Tri Club
Would like to propose a club duathlon re-match in November Sun 16th November
Location:George hotel, Leadenham.
Time: 9am start.

Run/bike/run route planned. Should make for a interesting event. 3k-15k-2k ish.
Prizes for first team and some spot prizes. Cheeky little raffle with some very nice stuff donated from local sources.
George hotel has offered us a bottle as well as the use of there ample carpark.
Wine, various boxes(seriously big) of quality chocs, christmas puddings are just a few things already sorted.

£3 entry fee.
Every penny goes to charity!

Maybe take a photo or two and pop an artical to the echo for a bit of free advertising also! George hotel does Sunday breakfast but will need to be pre ordered the day before. Teas & coffee will be available as usual. We could have a group Breaky if that suits. Will gladly sort if enough interest. Could/Might have an Army Team from Digby. Come on RAF, Ruffle those feathers and show them your true colours. Be the best or rise above the best. All double dutch to me! Don't let that put you off for the new members/novices. this is intended as a fun event for all to enjoy, open to all.
Who's in?

Let us know if you are planning on coming, although turning up on the day should be fine depending on replies

Will keep you informed.

Caythorpe Summer Nights Training Duathlon
The 2nd of the 'Summer Nights' series saw Dave Miller of Ancaster really back in swing again to win by 28 seconds from Martin Clarke(Caythorpe) who hung in there with a big 4 minute reduction on his previous times. Steve Saunders (Newark Tri) is always a fearsome guest and ran both the run legs in the fastest time to move through the field for third. Newcomer Jon Clarke had hot wheels and moved up 6 places before the final run. Grantham newcomer Mick Oliver claims his swimming to be his strongest discipline but went under 50 minutes on his debut nett time.

Short Duathlon Handicap Race held at Caythorpe 21/10/07

A dozen competitors competed on a fine sunny morning at Caythorpe
Haran Dunderdale a local youth athlete turned up with his brother Joe and both ran and biked impressively to finish 1st and 2nd in 63 mins 12 and 64 mins 41, well done Haran and Joe our 2 new youths what a Duath by the Duo..!!
Just behind was another newcomer Granthams Rob Barrett-Duckett with Lincoln Triathlete Dave Miller also making his debut in 4th.The winner of the Caythorpe Chase off road race the week before, Ponton man Steve Bunn used his slik tyres and with little wind established a bike time record of 21.38... but poor Steve could not beat the severe handicapping given from winning the Chase and came in 11th. Graham Hind did warn me he was in hibernation, but I am a hard handicapper. It comes right once you have recorded a result, we get you worked out, ask Janette , Dave Philpotts or Sue Hesketh our previous winners.
